Seeing people smile is contagious and good for the soul. When I first stumbled across Consider Me Lovely, I was so enamored to see someone who looked like my best friend or my cousin with such a positive energy. Style Inspirer Rocquelle Porch immediately drew me in with her bright personality. As the Owner of Clutched and Covered she’s living on the bright side of life, spreading the good energy to your closet while also securing a place in your heart.
Introduction + Interview by Melissa Kimble
What inspires you to create?
Life inspires me to create!! The things that I envision in my head, what I see when I drive down the street, in the store, or simply sleeping inspires me to create. I guess you can say God inspires me to create! He’s constantly giving me ideas and suggestions and experiences that bring out the creativity me.
Consider Me Lovely is a delightful mix of your personal style, affirmations, being comfortable in your own skin, and more musings. What prompted you to share a piece of your world?
The funny thing is that most people who read Consider Me Lovely now don’t know that it started as a wedding blog a few years ago, when I was toying with the idea of being a wedding planner. One day I realized that sharing my style and thoughts came more natural than trying to create wedding related content, so I just went for it and haven’t looked back. I had no idea it would become what it is today!!
I actually make clutch covers for clutches, so the process for making them is probably the simpler aspect of it all. My personal collection is a mix of modern and vintage clutches, so I do take them into consideration when I am thinking of clutch cover ideas too. The more creative and complicated component of the clutch cover process comes in sourcing fabrics and finding fabric that reflect the aesthetic I want to convey, but also suits the trends that women are into. I’d like them to each speak for themselves and make a statement, so I take that into consideration when looking for the prints and colors, as well.
I wish more people understand this difference, lol. Fashion is what comes down the runway and is out on the sales floor at stores, but style is left up to the people who buys them to create. My closet is full of fashionable pieces, but my style is what I choose to do with it, what I create in my outfits everyday. I don’t think I have managed to find the balance between the two, lol. I just put on I want to wear and don’t think much of it. I am very much okay with an outfit not being considered fashionable, as long as it makes me feel good.
Your Friday smile feature is one of our favorites. What makes you smile on a regular basis?
It’s crazy to me everyone loves SMILE Friday so much!! It makes me happy that people are positively impacted by it so, that weekly feature is a source of smile for me regularly. When I think about it, life is the greatest reason to smile on a regular basis because I realize the value of life. I realize the beauty of being able to wake up each day and see the good in it, whether everything sucks or is going great. My friends and family make me smile; we just like to have a good time when we are together. A good pair of shoes makes me smile on a daily basis, whether it’s a new pair picked up in the store or dropped off at my door, or the shoes on my shoe shelf. I strive to be a glass half-full kind of gal, so I’m grateful to always be blessed to find something to smile about.
