This week, I learned that suicide rates for Black children are now at a record breaking high – surpassing other races via EBONY Magazine.
That’s not by coincidence.
In our communities, we don’t talk about mental health issues enough and many of us are suffering in silence. And instead of suffering in silence, I’ve decided to open up about my journey with depression. Yes it challenges the notion that I have it all together and yes, it’s scary to exposes my weaknesses but guess what? Too many of us are dying. It’s time for us to speak up. I’d rather you’d learn about the real person behind this #blkcreatives army because just like you, I have my struggles and this creative journey isn’t always as easy or as fun as it may appear.
I choose to be real about my story in hopes that it will help someone else gain the courage to share theirs. Enjoy episode one of our brand new podcast with Tracy G of Sway In The Morning and She’s Beauty and The Beast.
Peace + Power,
