Feel stuck in your job? You’re not the only one. The good news is that you’re not alone. If you want to create a way out, you have to work no matter how you feel. This guest post will show you how to get started.
The best feeling is when God reveals your passion, but the worst feeling is being stuck between your revelation and your career goal. You know, when you’re the one who gets to watch the movers and the shakers, but isn’t qualified to move or shake a thing?
Yea, that’s me.
Being stuck in the middle can be hard to get out of and even harder to find hope. Regularly, you’ll find times where you feel complacent. You’re probably at your desk mumbling to yourself, “I’m better than this” or “This is boring”. Whenever you hear yourself saying this STOP!
If you want to reach your goal bad enough, challenge yourself in situations that may not seem challenging at all by setting sub-goals. Sub-goals are smaller goals that motivate you to challenge yourself everyday. Here’s how to get started:
1. Tell yourself, “God placed me here for a reason, so I’m not leaving until I’ve reached my purpose”
If you’re working at a job that you’re not so passionate about start by reminding yourself that you are not as ready as you think you are. If you were then you wouldn’t be there!
2. Challenge yourself.
Challenge yourself by making your overall goal to create two strong professional relationships and a good reputation. These goals will leave you with great references and who knows…when your talent and effort gets noticed by the right people, your destined opportunity may start chasing you.
3. Create Sub-Goals
When you begin to realize that you’re here for a reason think outside the box and find ways to perfect your craft. Seek the most valued co-worker and challenge yourself to match his/her goals or beat them! Believe it or not, doing this will make your job less boring and more interesting. You’ll forget how annoyed you usually are and maybe even find a new skill.
Oh and I have good news, you’re not going to be there forever! It’s not the end of the world if your experience feels boring for a second. Your journey is the essential part of landing your dream job. It doesn’t happen out of no where. It takes experience! You wouldn’t have the experience if you didn’t have that boring position.
What you have to remember is that God placed you there to prepare you for something greater than your wildest dreams. It’s up to you whether you want it bad enough.
Listen, it’s Do or Die, so I’m challenging you to challenge yourself.
Can’t wait to see you work.
